Digital OHS Manual

FAQ

How does the digital OHS manual differ from a traditional manual?

The digital manual is an easily accessed internal website organising your company's OHS documentation and procedures.  Any employee with access to your intranet will have access to the website based OHS manual.

Can employees without access to the network have access to the manual?

This can be organised by placing the website on a disc for local use.  It is much easier to supply an updated disc to remote locations, than to supply a printed document.  For employees without access to a PC, then the same arrangements can be made as for a printed manual.  They can access via any PC, or the manual can be printed out.

Do users need special training to access the website?

Most PC users are very familiar with internet browsers.  Any browser can be used.

It is useful for users to be provided with in-house training on the content of the site so that users can get most benefit from it.

Will special software be required?

Most PCs already have a browser, and browsers can be downloaded for free.  To update the website, it is recommended that Microsoft FrontPage be used.  This is readily available as part of the MS Office suite.

What are the benefits of having an OHS Manual in a digital format?

A digital manual is easily updated without copying, binding, and distributing a bound document, or expecting users to update individual pages.
